This recipe was one that my husband brought to our relationship. It’s from his aunt Debi.
- 1lb ground turkey breast
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 3/4 cups of grated cheddar
- 1/4 cup minced onion, or you can dash or 2 of onion/ garlic powder
- 1 egg
I mix everything but the meat in a bowl until it is a cohesive mixture, then transfer to a zippered plastic bag and add the ground turkey breast and massage the mixture in the bag until combined. Then I cut a corner of the bag and portion out small (1/4 cup or smaller) amounts onto a parchment lined baking sheet. You can use a spoon to shape them evenly into little loaves or I prefer to do little patties. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes until temp is 170 degrees.
Topping
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp mustard
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 1 tsp sriracha
All amounts can be varied to your liking. Mix well and after the loaves have been in the oven for about 10 minutes, carefully dollop a bit on top of each loaf. If you do not have sauce leftover you can make another batch to serve with the dinner as well.
* Note: These are great in sandwiches as well.
